What is the process for a public or TEA approved charter school to have a High School Equivalency Program (HSEP)?

Detailed information is provided in the downloadable application below (PDF).

The application will include the following:

  • evidence of a public hearing concerning the HSEP or Option Program;
  • assurances from the school that they will follow the specified rules in the application for providing a HSEP;
  • narrative description of the proposed program;
  • contact information for all campuses with a HSEP.

Once the application has been received by TEA, it usually takes three business days to process the application.  If the application is approved the HSEP can begin immediately or start at the discretion of the school.
